Monday Thought

"If ever the pleasure of one has to be bought by the pain of the other, there better be no trade at all. A trade by which one gains and the other loses is a fraud."
Ayn Rand

An inspiring quotation! Just wondering about the context in which Ayn made such a statement?

Hey Scott! This quote is from Rand's book, Atlas Shrugged. I have actually never read this book, but stumbled upon the quote when looking for fair trade info. According to Wikipedia, "the book explores a dystopian United States where leading innovators, ranging from industrialists to artists, refuse to be exploited by society."
In this scene the main character, Dagny Taggart, is speaking to steel magnate Hank Rearden, who is deeply committed to his wife, although she does not grasp the moral principals that motivate him.
